US Route 4 Corridor Construction Traffic Safety Advisory beginning August 4, 2021

The Town of North Greenbush is advising motorists that beginning Wednesday, August 4, 2021, Bloomingrove Drive will be closed to traffic in the following in 2 areas of Town 24 hours each day to accommodate construction along the Route 4 Corridor:

–Southbound Bloomingrove Drive at Route 4 (Cumberland Farms) will remain closed for the next 2 weeks and re-open once the new traffic signal is installed; and

–Bloomingrove Drive at Williams Road will be closed for the next 6 weeks.  Local traffic only will be allowed on Bloomingrove Drive and motorists are urged to use Winter Street Extension for access to Bloomingrove Drive during this time and to pay close attention to all traffic signage.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers at the above intersections Monday thru Friday between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.  Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in the work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone and convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.

Motorists are reminded to obey the directions of flaggers and slow down significantly whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.

The Town of North Greenbush is advising motorists that beginning July 12, 2021 US Route 4 between Route 43 and Sunset Boulevard will be reduced to a single alternating lane controlled by flaggers Monday thru Friday between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm to facilitate road paving.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in the work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone and convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.

Motorists are reminded to obey the directions of flaggers and slow down significantly whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.

Construction Begins US Route 4

Beginning March 29th, Rifenburg Construction is beginning construction along US Route 4 for the US Route 4 Intersection and Pedestrian Improvements Project. The limits of the project on Route 4 are between NYS Route 43 and the City of Troy line with construction being focused into three main segments; Route 4 South (NY Route 43 to Valley View Boulevard), Route 4 and Winter Street Intersection and the intersection of Route 4 and Williams Road. All construction is expected to be completed by November 2021.  Thank you.

Public Bid Opening for US Route 4 Highway Improvement Project

Town of North Greenbush sealed contractor bid opening for the US Route 4 Highway Intersection and Pedestrian Improvement Project (PIN 1089.75) will be conducted on July 21, 2020 at approximately 11:30 am and will be video streamed live via:

https://townhallstreams.com/towns/northgreenbush.

All contractor bids to be considered for this project must be received in a sealed envelope at Creighton Manning Engineering, 2 Winners Circle, Suite 201, Albany, NY by 11:00 am, local time, on July 21st 2020 as indicated in the request for proposal that was issued.

The general public, Contractors and other interested parties must use the above “town hall stream internet link” for access to this public meeting as Town Hall remains closed for safety reasons due to the Covid-19.

All certified bids will be opened and read aloud at that time.

UPDATE:  Tree Cutting along US Route 4 (Scheduled for March 18th and 19th)

Beginning March 18th, the Allmark Tree and Crane service is scheduled to cut trees along US Route 4 for the US Route 4 Intersection and Pedestrian Improvements Project. The limits of the project on Route 4 are between NYS Route 43 and the City of Troy line.  Construction workers and equipment will be out by the roadway, so please be cautious and attentive when driving along the corridor. Work will be done wherever possible to avoid weekday morning and evening busy traffic times.  All tree trimming is expected to be completed by March 31st.  Thank you.
