About

U.S. Route 4 Traffic and Pedestrian Improvements: This $9.8M construction project in the Town of North Greenbush will improve traffic and pedestrian safety along the Route 4 Corridor at the intersections of Bloomingrove Drive, Winter Street Extension and Williams/Glenmore Road, as well as and points between these intersections.

Proposed improvements include reconfigured intersections at Bloomingrove Drive, Winter Street Extension, and Williams Road/Glenmore Road. The intersection improvements will address existing safety issues as well as anticipated design year capacity issues. Additionally, pedestrian sidewalks/pathways are proposed for a half mile from NY Route 43 to Valley View Drive, and up to a mile from Jordan Road to Williams/Glenmore Road.  The pedestrian improvements will connect to existing facilities at the northern and southern project limits, and add dedicated crossings of US Route 4 at the major intersections. The various improvements will consider width of available right-of-way, segments between points of need, potential environmental impacts, access management, and cost. Green storm water practices and landscaping will be evaluated and incorporated where appropriate.

Rifenburg Construction will perform the work for the project.  The project timeline is as follows:

South end of Route 4 and Bloomingrove Drive:

Start 3/29/21 – Complete 6/21/21

Winter Street Ext. Intersection at Route 4:

Start 8/12/21 – Complete 9/29/21

Rte. 4 & Rte. 136, Williams Road Roundabout:

Throughout the project, digital construction and traffic signage will be prominently posted along the work zones.  Vehicular traffic and pedestrian access are expected to be maintained wherever possible throughout the project duration.  Traffic delays should be anticipated, and motorists are reminded of the importance of paying attention during construction to ensure work zone safety.
